GTA IV – Problems – Welcome to Glitcherty City

Grand Theft Auto IV is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best games of the year, but it’s still got a few chinks in its armor. One of the biggest drawbacks of the “open world” or “sandbox” genre of game (which the GTA series pretty much pioneered), is the fact that since almost anything can happen, it’s pretty difficult to predict and fix every single glitch or bug. GTA IV actually had its release date pushed back from Christmas to April, so it had extra time to cook. The game still lacks some polish and there are plenty of odd glitches here and there. With my time on the 360 version, More >

GTA IV – Gameplay: All the world is yours

The Grand Theft Auto series popularized the idea of an open-world game, and GTA IV really takes it to the next level. The game is set in Liberty City, a sprawling urban environment so closely based on New York City that the first time I saw the trailer, I thought it was set in the real world. Even though Liberty City is smaller in scale than NYC, it feels huge, thanks to a nearly unlimited field of view. Go up to a rooftop and you’ll see skyscrapers, streets, and bridges, all of which you can visit. The view is even more breathtaking from a helicopter at night, when the city is lit up and More >

When Grand Theft Auto IV launched last Tuesday, I was very curious.  I’ve played the series since the original, top-down PC game, and I spent a good chunk of time playing GTA 2. When the series moved to 3D with GTA III, though, I lost interest. I didn’t have a PS2 at the time, so it was old news by the time it finally rolled onto the big black monster that was the first Xbox, and I finally got to play it. The story was unengaging, the characters were unsympathetic and unrelatable (Tommy Vercetti was an asshole), and the missions were freaking hard. Not to mention the awkward controls and More >

I love my Harmony remote. Deeply.

I am in love with a remote control. I can’t help it.

My entertainment center is particularly crowded right now. With my current and classic game systems, TiVo, DVD player, and receiver, there are nine separate components in my entertainment center. That’s a lot of stuff to manage. But, then, my Harmony came along, and she helped me get control of my living room…and taught me how to love.

The Logitech Harmony 550 Advanced Universal Remote is part of Logitech’s line of activity-based, programmably sexy universal remotes. The Harmony won my heart because of two things:

Teen pregnancy can be fun! The Obscenely Late Juno review

0

Obscenely Late Reviews are opinions on something that’s been out for long enough that all the respectable blogs and publications have already reviewed it to death.

Honestly, about ten minutes into Juno, I was worried. The dialogue seemed forced, stilted, and was approaching dangerous levels of snark. The main character, Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page), had so far failed to make enough of an emotional impression on me that I really didn’t care that she was knocked-up.To this point, everything had been empty, borrowing from other quirky-protagonist movie playbooks, like Rushmore and Napoleon More >
